The opening day of
the Southern Zone regular deer season has been changed from Monday
to Saturday. The season will close on a Sunday. This change allows
young hunters and others who are unable to take time off from
work or school to hunt on opening day. DEC hopes this opportunity
will be actively embraced by young hunters. Other changes include
opening the archery season on the third Saturday in October, and
extending the late archery and muzzleloader seasons to nine days.
