3/2012 Fingerprint fee now $91.50

10/2007 CHANGES: Orange County and Sullivan County have both changed the "fingerprint" fee due to a fee change by the FBI. The Fee in Sullivan County is $105.25 and in Orange County it is $94.25, ( because Orange County uses computerized fingerprinting,) made out to Orange County Commissioner of Finance.

6/2007 CHANGES: Orange County the NY Pistol License application process. They are also makeing some changes to the instructions for the NY Pistol License Application. They are doing this because the Sheriff's Department now has new equipment and has computerized the fingerprinting process and taking the required pictures. You will no longer have to get ink on your fingers or pay $10 to have your picture taken.

         Just remember that the sooner you turn in your application, the sooner you get your license.  Also in Orange County, the instructions make it sound like you have to take your safety class before you turn in your application.  Actually you do not have to show proof that you have taken the safety class until you have your meeting with the Sheriff’s Department for you interview and that takes place about  1 ½ months after you turn in your references.
